Ingredients
  

For the apple fries

  • 2 large large apples, sliced into fries Firm, slightly tart apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work best.
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour Can substitute with gluten-free flour if needed.
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs Use gluten-free breadcrumbs for a gluten-free version.
  • 1/4 cup sugar Can substitute with coconut sugar or a sugar substitute.
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon Increase for a stronger flavor.
  • to taste Salt A tiny pinch enhances the flavor.
  • as needed Cooking spray For air frying.
  • as needed Caramel sauce or whipped cream for serving Optional topping.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3–5 minutes.
  • In a bowl, mix the flour, sugar, cinnamon, and salt to create the coating.
  • Core and slice the apples into fry-shaped sticks.
  • Dredge the apple slices in the flour mixture, dip them in water, and then coat with breadcrumbs.
  • Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray before adding the fries.

Cooking

  • Place the coated apple fries in the basket in a single layer and air fry for 10–12 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • Check for doneness; if they look pale at 10 minutes, continue for 2-3 more minutes.

Serving

  • Serve warm with caramel sauce or whipped cream.

Notes

Pat apple slices dry before dredging for better adhesion. To store sliced apples, place them in cold water with lemon juice to prevent browning.
